Language Arts (Miller)

1. Read your IR book for 60+ minutes (due Friday, 6/9). Complete your DRL each time you read.

2. Keep working on your sequel story draft for 20+ minutes. Focus your attention on properly punctuating your story's dialogue and adding dialogue as needed. Use the punctuating dialogue notes given to you in class to help you. Be sure to add any corrections you wrote on your draft today in class to your Google Doc, and bring your draft back to class tomorrow.

IR: Work on your goals!
  • Read for a minimum of 4 days during the week.
  • Read for a minimum of 20 minutes each time.
  • Work on your Personal Reading Goal each time
  • CLASSROOM/SCHOOL LIBRARY BOOKS MUST BE RETURNED BY FRIDAY, JUNE 9TH

FINAL FREE WRITE: Write 1 page (double spaced, point 12, Times New Roman) on anything you wish - create a fictional short story, write about an experience you've had, what you have been learning in your other classes, tell me about some of your favorite things, tell me about a hobby or afterschool activity that you participate in, tell me about your summer plans, or what you are looking forward to in 8th Grade, etc. Choose anything to write about and JUST WRITE! DUE FRIDAY, 6/9
  • I will give you credit regardless of grammar (i.e. word usage) and mechanics (i.e. spelling, capitalization, punctuation). Although, it is encouraged that you do your best and use spell check, Co-Writer, or Snap & Read.
  • For every Free Write you complete during the 4th Marking Period you will earn extra credit (.5 points) toward your Grade Point Average.
  • Free Writes will be assigned on Mondays and due on Fridays.
